Research Summary:

Human brain is a complex organ, with tens of billions of interconnected neurons, it is responsible for the diversity in our thoughts, actions, and behavior. Over the life span, our brain along with its hierarchically modular structures undergoes transformations not just structurally but also functionally. These transformation can alter cognitive capabilities and can be influenced by various factors such as life style, neurological diseases, genetic predisposition, etc. These confounding factors control how the brain develops/degenerates over time.

Algorithmic tools along with imaging play a crucial role in deciphering and analyzing the structures of the brain and identifying atypical brain changes and cognitive deficiencies. In my research, I use machine learning techniques to study the effects of these confounding factors on brain aging and cognition. Broadly, I am interested in using multi-view techniques to extract complementary information from the brain so as to create a personalized snap-shot of the brain and its health.
